GetClipMachine vs Spikes Studio: upload minutes and a 5-minute editor cap
Spikes Studio sells upload minutes and caps web editing at 5 minutes. GetClipMachine has no meter and no length cap, plus what Spikes does better.

Spikes Studio is aimed squarely at streamers and gaming clips, and it's priced aggressively on annual billing. It also carries two limits worth understanding before you commit: an upload-minute allowance and a cap on how long a video can be to edit on the web.
On the numbers here. Read from the Spikes Studio pricing page on 2 September 2026, linked at the bottom. Pricing changes; verify first.
The pricing
| Plan | Price | Upload minutes | Resolution | Watermark | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0 | Limited demo | 720p | Yes | 7 days |
| PRO+ | $14.09/mo annual, $32.99/mo monthly | 300/mo (3,600/yr annual) | 1080p | No | 90 days |
| Enterprise | $56.34/mo annual, $115.99/mo monthly | 1,200/mo (14,400/yr annual) | 1080p | No | Unlimited |
Their page also notes support for "over 99 languages" and states that maximum video length for web editing is 5 minutes.
GetClipMachine is €15/month flat: unlimited videos, unlimited clips, unlimited source minutes, 1080p on Pro with 4K export available, no watermark on Pro. Free is 3 videos a month, watermarked.
The two limits that matter
Upload minutes. PRO+ at 300 minutes a month is five hours of source material. For a streamer with several multi-hour VODs a week, that's consumed quickly, and the next tier up is a large jump.
The 5-minute web-editing cap. This is the one people don't notice until they hit it. If your workflow involves editing longer segments in the browser, that ceiling shapes what's possible.
Note the annual/monthly gap too: PRO+ is $14.09/mo on annual billing but $32.99/mo billed monthly. The headline price assumes a year up front. Ours is €15 either way.
What Spikes does better
- Gaming and stream-native features. It's built for that audience and it shows.
- AI B-roll, music and SFX, plus a social scheduler. None of which we have.
- Cheapest annual entry price in this comparison set, if you commit for a year and stay inside 300 minutes.
- A built-in editor, where we deliberately have none.
What's different here
- No upload-minute allowance, so multi-hour VODs don't burn a budget.
- No length cap, 3h+ sources are the normal case, not the exception.
- Same price monthly or annually. No annual-commitment discount to chase, because there's no penalty for paying monthly.
- 4K export on Pro, above their 1080p ceiling.
- Measured clip boundaries, see why AI clips cut mid-sentence.
Where we're the weaker pick
- You want gaming-specific templates and effects.
- You need B-roll, music, SFX or scheduling built in.
- You want to edit clips in-browser after generation.
- You'll commit annually and stay under 300 minutes a month, that's genuinely cheaper than us.
Short version
Spikes Studio if you're a streamer who wants an editor, effects and scheduling in one place, and you can live inside the minute allowance.
GetClipMachine if you're feeding it long VODs and want the length of your source to stop being a pricing question. See also vs Vizard for the other per-minute model, or what credits really cost for the general arithmetic.
